INTRO TO OUTDOOR RACQUETBALL TOURNEY AND COACHING
Thanks to everyone who competed and helped make a fun experience especially Steve Fitzsimmons
who kept the tournament moving and did all the score keeping. Also thanks to our sponsors who donated
accessories, Ektelon, Oneshot Sports, and Pro Kennex. Also thanks to WOR for the drinks and promotion.

It was touch and go for a few minutes in the morning while Greg Solis explained the outdoor rules for
singles and doubles the rain drops toyed with us. Thanks Greg. After that, the SoCal sunshine
stayed with us the entire event. Doubles was played first, then singles. We had 12 doubles teams and
12 singles players.

Players came from as far away as Lancaster, San Diego, Ventura and Riverside. Players included Celeste
Pafford, Debra Garrett Woods, Oliver Jen, Roland Seilinger, Ben Medina, Sam Brust, James Medina, Javier
Mendoza, Junior Medina, Jordan Medina, Len Sonnenberg, Israel Flores, Misty Goldstone, Taylor Golstone-Perez,
Luis Espinoza, Christie Singleton, Pete Chmielewski, Jay Benninger, Chris Kazem, Dane Kazem, Sonya Green,
Abel Barbu, Joe Rosales.Jill Federman, Darrin McNally, David Bogosian. Semi-finalists in Singles was Jill
Federman & Ben Medina with Sam Brust losing in the finals to Darrin McNally. Semi-finalists in the doubles had Luis
Espinoza/Len Sonnenberg losing to James Medina/Javier Mendoza & Abel Barbu/Joe Rosales losing to
Sonya Green/Steve Cohen. The finals ended with Sonya Green's team on top 15-11.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and I look forward to another tournament after the WOR-EKTELON
CHAMPIONSHIPS July 10-13th at the same Marina Park. So please pass the word along to all your indoor friends
and acquaintances. Anyone wishing to volunteer a different site is welcome and your comments to help make each
future event better is greatly appreciated.
